Jefferson Environmental Defense Initiative (JEDI) is an organization of concerned citizens who advocate clean growth for a healthy community.
Clean growth makes good economic sense. The citizens of Jefferson County should stand up and oppose dirty industry. We should not sacrifice our children's health for financial gain.
Clean air does not come from a smokestack.
Stop Dumping Sewage Sludge in Jefferson County
There is a proposal to expand the dumping of sewage sludge in Jefferson County Georgia. Please read the article by Carol McLeod in this week's News and Farmer.
There are lots of scientific and health reasons that land application of sewage sludge is a very BAD IDEA. If you too are unhappy about this latest attack on the quality of life in our county, please express your displeasure to your county commissoner.

Erin Brockovich Speaks for Ogeechee Riverkeeper
Environmental advocate Erin Brockovich recently visited Savannah , and spoke to a group of about 200 concerned citizens at Love's Seafood in support of our Ogeechee River and the Riverkeepers' fight against King America Finishing's dumping of pollutants into the river, which resulted in the largest fish (and wildlife) kill in Georgia history in 2011. Erin also hosted a fundraiser in Atlanta to raise money for Greenlaw's and ORK's legal battle against KAF. Read more about Erin's visit at www.ogeecheeriverkeeper.org.
Erin Brockovich Lends Her Support
Erin poses with Charles and Susanne Lewis after dinner. Ms. Brockovich listened with interest to concerns about Jefferson County pollution, specifically the land application of sludge and the proposed Wadley North Star Incinerator.
This is a list of county officials. Tell them you care about the quality life in your county. Clean air and water are essential to health. Sewage sludge is unhealthy and should not be spread on fields in Jefferson County.
We do not want to see these signs posted in our community ...
